| Through displacement and deformation the hood can also transfer mechanical energy from an accident to adjacent body panels (e.g. both front fenders) in the even of a partial- or full-frontal collision thereby reducing the amount of energy that is being absorbed by the passenger compartment. For thermal purposes, venting an aluminum hood would provide more efficient cooling that a vented fiberglass hood. From a structural perspective, the aluminum hood increases the structural rigidity of the front-end of the vehicle. So for show purposes, a fiberglass, vented hood may make sense but from a functional perspective, it is clearly less than desirable. Don't get me wrong, I think Kyle's hood looks nice, but I think he should make it clear that use of such a hood on the road could increase the danger to the driver and passengers in the event of a collision. I'm not a fan of Wagz car in general, but I think the way he went about cutting vents into a stock aluminum hood makes more sense from all relevant dimensions.
